Head of School and Principal ::

Mr. John Mathew, who has served the Ministry of Education since 1997, joined Majeediyya School on 5th January 2003. He was formerly the Principal of Southern Secondary School, Addu Atoll and Baa Atoll Education Centre, Baa Eydhafushi. He was also the Principal of MES Central School, and K. S. A. International School in India and the Headmaster of N.I. Model School Al-Ain, UAE. He was also been trained at WUM, Salzburg, Austria and John F. Kennedy School, Berlin under the WUM educational training programme. He holds his Bachelor and Masters degrees in English Language and Literature and Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Education.

 

Assistant principal ::

Mr Adam Shareef Ahmed joined the government on 1st May 1991 as the secretary of Ministry of Education. As a Headmaster trainee he has served Laamu Atoll Education Center, Thaa Atoll Education Center, Mulaku Atoll Education Center. In the year 1994 he was promoted as a Headmaster of Kalaafaanu School and later shifted to Naifaru Madharusathul Ifthithaah. In the year 2001 he was the Assistant Principal of Gn. Atoll Education Center. He started serving Majeediyya School as the Assistant Principal in the year 2002. Mr Adam Shareef Ahmed holds Diploma in Teaching and School Management.

 

Academic Counselor ::

It was 38 years ago, a 26-year old young man from Sri Lanka, joined Majeediyya School. It was 11th November 1964 that he arrived in Male'. His first job was teaching Technical Drawing and Mathematics for the first batch of GCE O'level students. He taught Mathematics together with Mr. J.V. Hill who was then the Principal. Mr. Dissanayake has held many position in Majeediyya: a teacher (1964 - 1970), Head of Department of Mathematics (1971 - 1999), Assistant Principal (1999 - 2002) and he is now serving as the Academic Counselor. This new position of Academic Counselor was created for Mr. Dissanayake in recognition of his long commitment to academic excellence of Majeediayyans. Mr. Dissanayake is now 64 years old and has taught in Majeediyya for 38 wonderful years, and still going strong. Finally, about Majeediyya he says, "there is no Maldives without Majeediyya and there is no Majeediyya without Maldives".
