Software: The programmes used in a computer.

Software is a word used for the actual programs that allows the hardware to do useful jobs. Its is made up of series of instructions that tell the computer what to do.

Application Program: An application program is a computer information system designed to carry out tasks such as keeping accounts, editing text which would need to be carried out even if the computer did not exist.

Application Package: An application package is a complete set of application programs together with the associated documents.

Eg: Micosoft Word, Powerpoint and Access.

Hardware: Its is the physical part of the computer system.

- Input devices are used to get the data into the computer.

- The central processing unit is the brain of the computer.

- Backing storage consists of the disk drives used to store data when the power is switched off.

- Output devices includes such as printers and V.D.U's which are used to provide output in the form of printout, screen displays.
